All About the Black Canary

Well, maybe not all about her, but let’s be honest: what is CanaryNoir.com if NOT a shrine to her awesomeness?

Black Canary #1

The plan for this new blog is to be a place for my sequential art ramblings — comics and manga — and to keep some sort of updating going on at CanaryNoir to make the Birdwatching archive less lonely.

But back to BC.  I like to think the site and I have played some role in her renaissance (or ‘naissance) as one of the true leading ladies in the DCU.  She’s getting her own mini, she’s in the JLA, she’s got some pretty great swag coming out (at last at last).

Justice League of America #6 (alternate cover)

Gail Simone (may she write great comic chix forever, amen) may have written her out of Birds of Prey, but Canary hasn’t vanished.  Gail is, of course, moving on the Wonder Woman — fantastic news — and I’m sure I’m not the only one who hopes Dinah might visit Diana after Gail gets the princess all sorted and established as the truly kick-ass Amazon we’ve long known her to be.

  1. YAY DIANA! Hey you know this isn’t much of a name change for Gail, Dinah – Diana. Yes it is shiny blogginess, oooo shiny the shinyness of all shine. Okay that’s enough ^.^ Nice new blog! I CLAIM FIRST POST!

  2. Looks great and very goth-y! Definitely displays better in Firefox than in IE.

Do you think for my next b-day you could make me a wee small page? ;0)

  3. Well, I certainly wasn’t driving down the street yesterday singing the words “Gail Simone” at the top of my lungs to the Wonder Woman theme song.

    Well, I might’ve a little.

Nice spot–but yes, this does not look nice in IE. There are stripes happening down the middle that block some of the words. I have an unremembered grudge against Firefox… i.e., I installed it awhile ago, and something about it pissed me off so I uninstalled it, and can’t remember why but just have this sort of ancestral memory reaction now against installing it again. I mention this in case there may be others like me who are strange and do not use Firefox like everybody else.

  4. i checked it on ie7 and firefox and it’s good on both so i’ll need to fire up Work Computer and see it in ie6 — but ie7 is excellent! you all should try it ;)

  5. I find it rather odd to read – with the vertical stripes – I’m using the most uptodate Safari browser so am not sure what’s up – like the top (although the white writing does occasionally not show up too well on the background – but that’s my museum education/text background showing …)

Oh and yep – you’re definitely beautiful (since you said I should speak about it)

  6. *blush* thank you! I didn’t realize it said that on the button *laughs*

I know this design is a bit elaborate, but I’ve set up the feed to go to my LJ, too, so if this is TOO much trouble to browse, the posts can be read there, too.
